Maggie’s nickname is Magpie, which where the save the date inspiration began. The wedding took place in Croatia & we wanted it to have some colors from the area, but also reflect Maggie & Monty’s vibrant personalities. The save the date became a stylized magpie with dark blue holographic foil wings & a custom colorful plaid on the back with all the wedding information. The dark blue foil made its way into the wedding invitation on the middle spinning layer. The first layer of the invitation was a custom painted view of Dubrovnik through the Rosetta shapes in the walls that we took inspiration from throughout the suite. The middle layer was wiggly to resemble the blue waters & the back included terracotta letterpress ink to emulate the terracotta tile roofs. We wanted the stationery to feel a little funky, unexpected & colorful. The “pirate ship” they sailed on in Croatia was even included in the invitation painting! Wrapped around the invitation suite is an embossed illustration of a fountain in Dubrovnik. We chose a sparkly aqua cotton ribbon to make it look like water flowing out of the face’s mouth, just like the actual fountain. Texture was not overlooked at all – the petal fold envelope was made from leather-like paper & felt very luxurious. It reminded me of Maggie’s dress & how tailored it was. This suite was exciting to create as it became a all in one package for the guests to easily take with them abroad!
